   SmallMap is a dynamic HTML shareware for Web Publishers to present community directory on the Web. SmallMap can be customized for towns, parks, campuses, clubs - any cluster of businesses and non-business listings, or other database of articles (books, music, games, rental properties). Web publisher with a database of shops or members can use SmallMap to quickly publish a Web directory. You may add your own map images. Visitors to your Website will then be able to browse and sort through your community listings, find text, name, address, and other descriptive information, as well as navigate around any map segments. SmallMap is different from Web yellowpages and map direction Websites, and much simpler. However, SamllMap gives the Web publisher full control to focus locally on the community. SmallMap gives both the Web publisher and the visitors many controls, such as setting cookie expiry period, column and map display options, filtering options, output and print options, and more. Given full addresses, SmallMap can automatically generate individualized links to the established map and direction Websites, such as Google Map, Yahoo! Map, and MapQuest. SmallMap is not a conventional "program" in that it is JavaScript base. But it may well represent the future of Web applications. The browser war has created a mature, sophisticated, and powerful browser platform that enables SmallMap to emerge as a useful "dynamic HTML" program. The complexity of its code is comparable to some simpler C++ programs. The end users see a whole Web site of pages, but is really only seeing one single dynamic page, repeatedly and interactively redrawing itself upon user command.
